For better performance in pole vault, more weight less reps or less weight more reps?

I'm planning to train for pole vault in track and field. It's mostly upper body strength I know, but should I do more weight with less reps (muscles I believe) or more reps less weight (endurance I believe)? Which would benefit more? And what kind of exercises should I be doing to be stronger on my upper body?
