Help cold sore on lip swelling !!!! need help?

my cold sore been on my lip for a few days it swelling and i have a really hot date tonight first time going out for drinks !! Is there anything i can do to make the swelling on my lip go down ??? at all maybe ice , salt , our some vingar our chap stick ???
